Ready to take some action to help while staying home? Fiberology Lab carries all the items you will need for 1 mask or a dozen, but, because of the virus, some are on order and could take up to 3 weeks before they arrive. Please read the item description to determine what is in stock and what isn’t. We recommend that you pre-order what you need if we don’t currently have it. All orders over $50 are shipped for free.
If you are planning to make masks, your first step should be to determine who will use the masks and what the requirements are for that user. The Internet is full of information on different types of masks and patterns, but, even though they all look similar, they aren’t alike. Do your research before you start your project!
For general reference:
1 yard of fabric equals 4-6 masks
18” (1/2 yard) is needed for one mask
Thread, pins and sewing machine needles are needed for construction
Interfacing is used on the inside of many masks for added protection.
Quality of the cotton fabric you use makes a difference in how effective the mask will be. All of our cotton has a minimum 180 thread count. Batiks are 200 thread count.
Sale fabric listed here is 180 thread count. Look for in-stock Batiks under that category.
